Learn LIFT's 35mm Oxberry animation camera, a fully automated animation stand capable of handling photo and transparency animation, cut-out and cel animation, title sequences, abstract techniques and more. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of conceiving and designing a short animated film, how to load the magazines, focus the lens, and create pans, zooms and other effects with the camera's computerized Cinetron controller. Students will have the opportunity to get hands-on, running the machine and shooting camera tests, so that you'll leave fully confident and ready to shoot. The Camera Theory workshop is strongly recommended as a prerequisite.
Free work time credit must be used before Friday, April 30th, 2010. Non-members must book their editing time during LIFT office hours (Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm).
Instructor:
Susan Justin is an award winning animated filmmaker, who has spent long hours hunched under a 35mm Oxberry Animation Camera. She remembers shooting titles and animation before the advent of computers. Though she works with computers now, she maintains that there is nothing more thrilling than shooting animation with a twelve-foot camera. www.susanjustin.com
