35MM FILMMAKING: AN OVERVIEW
Explore the Arri III 35mm camera, then shoot a short scene

Schedule:
Tuesday, July 13th, 6pm - 10pm
Thursday, July 15th, 6pm - 10pm

This class is an opportunity for you to discover the beauty of a wider frame and a higher resolution that 35mm filmmaking provides. The first evening will cover effective operation of the Arri III's wide range of features and accessories. Students will learn the intricacies of the mags, follow focus, color video assist, Optar zoom lens, Zeiss PL mount prime lens and matte box. On the second evening participants will shoot a short scene with a basic lighting setup and learn how to block the action of a small scene.

The Camera Theory workshop is strongly recommended as a prerequisite.


Instructor:
Michael LeBlanc has been working in Toronto's independent film industry for the past 8 years. He has shot music videos for the notable rock bands Sloan, Emily Hanes, Timber Timbre, Death From Above, Joel Plaskett, Great Lake Swimmers, Hidden Cameras, Sarah Harmer and Final Fantasy. This year Michael worked as 2nd unit DOP/OP on Bruce McDonald and Don McKellar's feature This Movie Is Broken and was the main unit DOP/OP on two independent features shot on 35mm. Last Year Michael worked as 2nd unit DOP/OP on Bruce McDonald's award winning film The Tracey Fragments and was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2008 UK MusicVideo Awards.
