HANDPROCESSING BLACK AND WHITE FILM
Learn how to process your own Super 8mm and 16mm film

Sunday, December 5th, 10am - 6pm

In this workshop you will spend the day in LIFT's darkroom working with Super 8mm and 16mm film stock. The class will discuss the aesthetics, techniques and safety of handprocessing. Participants will shoot 16mm and Super 8mm film, then put processing techniques into practice. Covering both negative and reversal developing participants will finish the day confident in processing their own black and white film. Workshop costs include all film, darkroom chemistry and supplies.

The Camera Theory workshop and / or experience with camera operation is strongly recommended.

This workshop includes an unsupervised 2-hour darkroom work session to be scheduled through the LIFT office. Darkroom time must be used before Friday December 10th, 2010. Non-members must use their time during LIFT office hours (Monday-Friday, 10 am-6 pm).


Instructor:
Coral Aiken
is an experimental filmmaker and choreographer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her post-secondary background in Modern Dance and Ballet has inspired a filmmaking practice rooted in corporeal poetics, and multi-channel modes of performance. In her films, Aiken explores themes of nostalgia and memory, with surreal elements rooting her work in the tradition of Magical Realism. Aiken recently completed a Masters of Fine Arts at York University in Film Production. Her current project in collaboration with Eve Majzels is La Revue, an existential musical for Bravo!FACT. Aiken recently joined LIFT as Education Coordinator.
