Costumes in films are vital tools to help create a mood, construct a character's identity, enhance storytelling and create the visual experience for the viewer. This one-day workshop is designed for independent filmmakers interested in learning how the collaborative process of costumes and costuming can help make their visions come alive. Participants will learn aspects ranging from costume conception, script breakdown, budgeting and wardrobe to continuity and on set protocols. You'll gain a basic understanding of how the costume designer work in dialogue with props, art direction, the director, the set dresser, actors, and lighting. Whether you're thinking about entering this field or would like a better understanding, this workshop will teach you to successfully use costume design to enhance a film's appearance, effect and feel.

Participants are strongly encouraged to provide the instructor with a brief synopsis prior to Friday, August 27th to discuss costume ideas during the workshop.
